Why Choose POGS
At POGS, patients are not treated as numbers. We are honoured to support women and their families through pregnancy, birth, and the many stages of women’s health.
Perth Obstetrics and Gynaecology Specialists (POGS) is a well-established specialist group practice providing high-quality, patient-centred care in both obstetrics and gynaecology. Founded in 2011 in Mt Lawley by Dr Ana Perkovic, Dr Patrick Wu and Dr Pierre Smith, POGS has grown to include Dr Patricia Wong (joined 2020) and Dr Alana Pountney (joined 2023). Together, our team has safely delivered more than 8000 babies and performed thousands of gynaecological procedures.
Specialist-led care, with support available 24/7
At POGS, a specialist obstetrician is always on call, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Our group practice model provides the benefits of continuity, while ensuring you have reliable access to care when it matters most.
You can choose an Obstetrician for your care. You also have the option to meet the doctors on our on-call roster during pregnancy. This means that if your usual doctor is unavailable at the time of birth, you are more likely to be cared for by someone you already know and trust.
We understand that every pregnancy and birth is personal. Our team will support you to work toward the birth experience you hope for, while keeping your health and your baby’s safety as the highest priority.
A dedicated team at every step
Our midwives and administrative team are an integral part of the POGS model of care. From your first contact with the practice, you will be supported with professionalism, warmth, and clear communication.
Our midwives are available in the practice every weekday from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm and can assist with:
- pregnancy assessments and education
- CTG monitoring (fetal heart rate monitoring)
- breastfeeding support and vaccinations
- postnatal care and guidance
- timely answers to questions and concerns
Midwives work closely with our doctors to ensure consistent and coordinated care throughout pregnancy and after birth.
Friendly, responsive administration
Our reception team is your first point of contact and plays a key role in helping your care run smoothly. They are respectful, approachable, and proactive in assisting with appointments and urgent concerns. Where clinically appropriate, they will liaise with our midwives and doctors to ensure you receive timely advice and support. Urgent appointments are prioritised for existing POGS patients.
Accessible, transparent private care
We believe high-quality private care should be accessible. POGS offers:
- transparent and competitive fees
- support to minimise out-of-pocket expenses where possible
- no additional fees for high-risk pregnancies
- reduced fees for women having their third or fourth baby with us
